As well as two types of hive record sheet there's a lifecycle chart and queen marking colour reminder.

That’s handy. Is it just me or when it comes to marking queens the often used pens are pretty variable as to how long the spot stays on?

Yellow and white are quite good but the blue and green seem to rub off very quickly. Never tried the red as became a bit dubious of them.

Once upon a time folk used humbrol enamel or tippex.

What do other people use and how do they get on with marker pens?

I usually put a splodge of paint on the edge of the brood box and use a bit of grass to dot a nice dot.
I've got one queen with a marking on where the middle of it's worn off and she has a green halo on her thorax now.
