the best way to keep wasps out of your hives to to keep them strong and with reduced entrances down to no more than a couple of inches wide and maybe a half inch high. Then the bees stand a very good chance of seeing off any chancer wasps. The wide full entrances hives come with without an entrance block in are unnecessary and highly risky this time of year.

Unless the colonies are weak or mini -nucleus hives, that should make wasps less of an issue and they are incredibly numerous around me this year.
