I had just put a new nuc of very calm bees in my garden temporarily. Which I have done previously without issue. There were no problems until one evening while watering the garden my neighbour called my name. I instinctively turned with hose in hand still on full pressure and caught the entrance of the nuc.
The girls didn't take kindly to this and defended themselves by attacking me.
Only thing to do was stand still eyes closed and let them vent their anger. After 10 stings to the face the girls returned home and I had a swollen eyebrow where vast majority of the stings were.
One and only time the girls from that hive have ever launched an attack.
I am now very careful where I point my hosepipe.
