Hi There is so much information on this forum, it is brilliant 👍

I am looking for advice on positioning of my apiary. It is on the same patch of land where the farmer sprays weedkiller (within about 50 feet of the apiary). I plugged up the hive late evening and opened it after spraying had finished the next day. Is this sufficient to protect the colony?
I have lost the colony now (not sure if it was the cold weather or related to the weedkiller). The hive wasn’t showing signs of disease & they had made it to March . I can’t see what else it could be ? Comments please

Difficult to know what has happened without pictures/description of how the bees died.
Was the queen laying this spring ? Were there still stores present in the hive after they had died? We had a very cold April where lots of strange things happened in hives.
Unlikely to be weed killer as this is not an insecticide.
