I have an unopened kilo slab of dulcofruct left over from a fiasco.
It's a thymol enriched type and has a use by date of November this year.
I know it's low down the list of feeds but
can I use it (if I ever get my bees) in summer?
Will it affect the honey(assuming I get these bees before the leaves start falling)
If the bees can't have it, will it be ok for the grandchildren ?
If not what's it like on toast?

You can feed fondant anytime of year. There was a chap on the old bbka forum from Manchester that only ever fed fondant and he swore by it. It will contaminate the honey though, but in your first year I would focus on getting the bees upto strength. However that's my personal opinion.

If the fondant has thymol in it, then if it goes to the grandchildren you can be confident they won't get nosema!

(Thymol can be used to stop syrup from fermenting or if a little stronger can help with nosema).

Thanks chaps
Looks like I'm chucking it then.
Feeding them thymol and pretending we're not in, is part of the IPM I use on the kids.
