Wrote on some honey bucket labels 'September' Never done that before and still some to come. I still have 2 colonies with double brood and 4 full supers to remove and get ready for winter and they are rammed full of bees. I may have to just leave them. Do the BBKA still advise 40lb of stores for winter

I also have a hive double brood with 4 supers, and the bees are wall to wall in all 6 box's. I put another super on to give them a little space and will take two supers off this next week.

I haven't had much coming in for a few weeks however Ivy is starting to flower. I've received a couple of calls about "bees nests in a bush" in the last week as a result!
A few Septembers ago I receieved a call from a school more or less demanding that I turn up and deal with a swarm in a hedge at the far side of a playing field. There was a large variety of insects feeding on the ivy in the September sunshine, about 8 feet up. I told the school to just leave the insects alone. This they couldn't do and actively had to do something so coned off the area. ! The school management company (as we now seem to have them) requested that i sent them someting in writing to that effect that it was insects feeding on the ivy and not a dangerous swarm of killer bees.

For the past three days my bee hut has had bee visitors which I have had to move on from the windows. This afternoon at 1620 they brought all their friends and have taken up residence in a box I was storing empty frames. Will have to sort them out in the morning.

Yesterday morning I was doing some (final) checks of stocks of concern and one had a virgin inside. It is just possible that it was warm enough yesterday for her to mate as it was supposed to touch 21 degrees.
I've had queens mate in Spetember before, however we are probably at the last chance saloon!
If there are no eggs by next weekend I will have to take apprpriate action. I have queens in my Abelo mini plus nucs so I can borrow a queen for the larger colony and then unite the mini-plus boxe onto another to make them bigger and more able to get through winter as they stack well. Apart from any feeding (mostly done) I shouldn't be playing around with them at this time of year!

Removed the 5 gallon feeders off my hives, some literally could not cram any more stores in. All nice and heavy. A couple of nucs are low in numbers, but nothing I can do about that. They will have to take their chnaces.
Also paid all my site owners their rent.
Season almost over.
