Hi have been feeding my bee Sugar syrup and they have been taking it down.
So I thought I would add some Hive alive.
I have followed instructions to the letter.
But now when I look in my top feeder they are not so keen and I have dead bees in the syrup.
I know I have the Wright amount of Hive alive to syrup.
Is it just that time of the year that I bees are starting to die of.

Hi Becky, Finding bees drowned in the cup of the feeder is not uncommon. They sometimes get in a rush and push others under. I keep a small tea strainer ( remember them?) in my toolbox and sieve them out. Just raise the cup a little to release the bodies into the rest of the syrup. Do tap the debris into a container though- don’t want to attract the wasps at this time of year. The reason that they have slowed down on taking the syrup could be nothing to do with the Hive Alive. Anything from failing Queen, full honey stocks, ‘R’ in the month, better stuff coming in from the Himalayan Balsam. I believe that it is the foragers who take the syrup so maybe they are occupied elsewhere. Or Dead.
Steve.
