Last week I cleaned all my inspection boards and vaped all my colonies. I have been back to check and was very surprised to see such low numbers of mites. All of my colonies are either double brood or brood and half going into winter. The biggest drop I had was 26 mites 5 days after treatment. I have 10 colonies that showed zero drop although the dead mites could be on the top bars of the lower boxes. The remaining colonies had less than 10 mites. Now as the most pessimistic beekeeper in the UK even I find those counts very low. I did treat with apiguard in the Autumn and had similar results then.
So as I like a national picture as opposed to a BBKA southern centric picture what have you experienced over autumn and winter varroa counts. It looks way to good to be true for me
