My Ambrosia fondant supplier has ran out at the same day I made a order and sent payment for it..the company has asked me if I want Fondabee as a replacement rather than getting a refund.. has anyone used it before as I am unsure if it is any good or not..

I used it once, although the bees liked it at first, it went hard like concrete and they would not touch it.

I'd get money back, unless it's same weight.
Try searching ebay with
beekeeping fondant (12.5kg)

Make sure you put the 12.5kg in brackets, then you get 2 options, £16.75 and £7.49 postage
or £24.25 including postage .
As I wanted 25kg went for 1st option as sliding rate on postage, about £46 for 25kg's.
Bako's fondant is cheaper, but they only deliver to companies. And even thought we are a company they refused to deliver to us as out in the sticks, so yah boo sucks to those plankers.

Following a quick check on fondant, I've just ordered some bakers fondant box of 12.5 kilos from Simon the Beekeeper and the postage is around £7ish and I ordered some pollen substitute for £10.99 which came to £30.97 for both as the fondant box (uncut block) was about £12.75 so not too bad in reality?!

It is the same weight Nigel i'm just a little suspect about the quality and whether it is ok for the bees..i would be gutted if i have got bees to this stage and upto winter weight only to loose some through a bad emergency feed product...like many others i have used bakers fondant for several years but it does my head in cutting it up and to top it of bakers fondant works out roughly the same as the pre packed ambrosia once the delivery is clagged on ..

Good price there JoJo...could have saved myself a few quid.

Steve, as long as its sugar/fondant in some form it shouldn't matter too much. If it comes in 1 kg packets at same price saves you cutting it up....which is real pain.

I did get a delivery of 50 kg from BAKO 2 or 3 years ago. I suspect that delivery depends on which depot the stuff comes from.
As beekeepers, we can get sugar from Bookers. I don't think they do bakers fondant which means they are missing a trick!

You are probably right regarding which Bako depot Adam. I know of several beekeepers that they will deliver to, mainly down sarth. But they won't up, here unless you are a huge company.
Alas, as I found to my cost, Bookers (in York at least) have stopped letting beekeepers in to buy sugar, you need to have a valid Bookers card. As we run a registered business it was no sweat to get one....although their sugar prices, even in 25kg sacks are slightly higher than Lidl's.....but the convenience of 25kg sacks vs handling 100's of 1kg bags is not to be sniffed at.
