EFB Outbreak

In recent days there was discovered a EFB outbreak in Guisborough. My understanding is initially it was 10 colonies but has climbed to 30. As usual the NBU is miles away from passing on information and this will create a great danger of spread due to their very poor reaction coming up to the heather season when lots of people will be moving colonies into the area for the Heather. The NBU needs shutting down, they are just a pointless fact finding organisation which is of no real help to the beekeeping community.
Real time updates and close locations are a must, not the fag packet data they dish out.

This link takes you to reported outbreaks of EFB. Guisborough is not listed. Perhaps it was not reported. Shook swarm for small outbreaks or treatment by the NBU ! Otherwise hive destruction unfortunately. Probably the outbreak partly caused by the cold wet weather this spring

That is because it is AFB, (not EFB) and is listed.
Given that in 2021 we imported over 21,000 queens and so far this year we are at 10,000 queens and rising. I don't think the data points the finger at imports having much connection with disease.

And is it AFB at Guisborough, we were told EFB ?

Beebase has 30 cases of AFB listed at Guisborough, and John Cannings (Cleveland beekeepers) e-mail also stated AFB at Guisborough.

Thankfully we don't have much AFB in the UK. Do we know where it came from? Maybe honey that's from "EU and non EU sources?"

I see the useless NBU don't center their outbreak maps so you could be 1km or 9km from point zero. Idiots. There are loads of keepers not even registered on the NBU. The most logical thing to do is zero the site then tell everyone in the country where it is. The NBU need to stop faffing on with AH, AFB and EFB and just crack on. They need a sensible department

In the past when there's been EFB within a certain distance of me, I will get an email alert. Did you get one Mick?
I know that the map is deliberately vague for confidentiality reasons...

Nothing on the BBKA website about the (large) outbreak.

Relating to your comment Nigel, I wonder whether there will be an increase of EFB this year where colonies have been stressed and haven't been able to get and forage well? We'll see.
