Just been offered a crack at 150 acres of local field beans. Could be great - or not. Suspect it will be rather weather dependant. I have had a go at beans before and it didn’t bring in as much as I hoped that time.

I like the clear crown board Mike. Do you get any problems with condensation ?
I spent the day making and baiting up 4 swarm traps aka. my spare corex nuc box the tatty wooden one I built last year and my converted 8 frame Paynes nuc and brood extension with its own home made floor and lid.
I figure if I'm lucky I might catch one or 2 but got nothing last year. Plus if I mess up and mine do swarm I figure its at least a little insurance rather than chasing them. Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that

9 degrees here today and brisk wind. However Tuesday is forecast to be a tropical 20 degrees and gentle breeze. Are you thinking what I am thinking ;) ?

So Yes I'm thinking we won't need to wear thermals whilst fishing ;)

Forecast for Tuesday is just shy of 20 and as mine are all doing what Micks are with the bracecomb(partially filled)I'm thinking supers all round.
But Wednesday onwards it goes back to sh1 again...

‘Course it will Alfred. The magnolia trees are coming into blossom. That usually means high winds are round the corner to strip all the petals off..

Been pondering on that point so this morning made up these.
They're packed with Kingspan scraps so there's no deadspace to keep warm and they leave enough room for just a few drawn frames and/ or foundation to keep them occupied.

Watch this space????

Wind chill made it 5C here this morning.
Ideal time to strim out apiaries without the annoyance of bees.
And so it proved, and 2 neat and tidy out apiaries later.....
With our forecast now suggesting we may also get 20C on Tuesday it's going to be a busy day. Clean floors, re-arrange and add queen excluders.
May need a beer or two rehydrate later :D

Hi Bobby, I use 1 inch thick polystyrene under the roof so only rarely do they suffer condensation. When they do its usually just around the perimeter which is not a bad thing as they will naturally use it as a water source.
